NEW ACQUISITIONS IN THE ART COLLECTION OF THE NATIONAL MUSEUM VRANJE 2015–2025

The exhibition New Acquisitions in the Art Collection of the National Museum Vranje: 2015–2025 offers a reflection on the past ten years of work in collecting, preserving and presenting contemporary visual art within the museum’s holdings.
In the Main Hall of the Gallery of the National Museum Vranje, throughout July and August 2025, the public will have the opportunity to see works that became part of the museum’s collection during this period.
The exhibition includes various forms of artistic expression such as paintings, drawings, prints, sculptures and other media, and testifies to the continuity of the Museum’s collaboration with artists from Vranje, Serbia and the wider region. These acquisitions are the result of donations, purchases and partnership programmes with artists and institutions. The presented works follow the currents of development in 21st-century Serbian art while also reflecting a specific cultural and artistic identity.
Beyond its artistic value, this exhibition also has a documentary dimension. It stands as a testament to the institution’s commitment to the culture of memory, the responsible preservation of heritage and the continuous enhancement of collections as a living organism that grows with its time. Through the exhibition, visitors will gain insight into the museum’s acquisition policies, criteria for selection and the importance of openness to new voices on the contemporary art scene.
We invite all art enthusiasts, friends of the museum and the wider public to join us in exploring the pages of the art collection of the National Museum Vranje.
