A Workshop as a Gift

To mark the 65th anniversary of the Museum, we have decided to celebrate this important milestone throughout the year, with special attention given to programmes dedicated to our youngest fellow citizens.
This time, we welcomed the pupils of class II/2 from “Vuk Stefanović Karadžić” Primary School in Vranje, accompanied by their teacher Katarina Džoljić.
The boys and girls were given a few exploratory tasks within the selamluk building, where the permanent exhibition is housed:
They discovered what was fashionable to wear in towns and in villages during the 19th century;
They located mysterious objects;
They uncovered how much care and skill went into creating the warm atmosphere of a Vranje town house at the turn of the 20th century;
They learned how people stored their belongings before wardrobes were invented.
The Museum’s space and its exhibited objects sparked the children’s imagination, in return we received drawings and ideas inspired by their experience.
Our little explorers gave selected exhibits their own personal touch and colourful interpretations.
The day was dynamic, there was a lot of looking, asking questions, sketching, writing, and the answers seemed to come on their own.
Time flew by, and the children went home with a colouring book representing a joint effort between our team and the children themselves!
You can expect more of these free workshops in the coming months, as a gift from the Museum to our youngest audience.
It is our duty and responsibility to make cultural heritage a source of knowledge for our youngest museum visitors knowledge that will in the future, shape them into kind and thoughtful individuals capable of understanding and preserving their heritage.
