Exhibition “Serbian Medieval Monuments in Danger” as part of the “Days of Vranje 2026” Festival

As part of the “Days of Vranje 2026” festival, themed “Vranje in the Heart, Meraк in the Soul”, the Gallery of the National Museum Vranje will host the exhibition “Serbian Medieval Monuments in Danger”.

The exhibition is authored by Marko Savić and Marko Todorović. It was produced by LiveViewStudio from Belgrade for the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Serbia, while the exhibition concept and design were created by Marko Todorović.

The exhibition was realised to mark the 20th anniversary of the inscription of the Visoki Dečani Monastery on the UNESCO World Heritage List and is dedicated to Serbian cultural heritage sites inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in Danger: the Visoki Dečani Monastery, the Patriarchate of Peć Monastery, Gračanica Monastery, and the Church of the Virgin of Ljeviša in Prizren.

Through a combination of visual arts and contemporary technologies, the exhibition presents the architecture, wall paintings, and historical significance of these medieval monuments in an innovative way. Interactive and digitally enhanced content enables visitors to gain a deeper understanding of their cultural value, as well as the challenges surrounding their preservation.

The exhibition was first presented at the headquarters of UNESCO in Paris, after which it was also displayed at the Cultural Centre of Serbia in Paris.

The exhibition opening will take place on Thursday, 30 July 2026, at 6.00 pm, at the Gallery of the National Museum Vranje.
