On March 21, 2022, the new permanent museum exhibition of the National Museum in Vranje was ceremoniously opened by the Vice President of the Government and Minister of Culture, Maja Gojković, and the Museum Director, Maja Aleksić, in the presence of the Mayor, Dr. Slobodan Milenković, and city officials.
Located in the Selamluk building, part of the Pašin Konaci complex, under the title “Vranje City House from the Late 19th and Early 20th Century,” the permanent exhibition, authored by ethnologist Iva Laković, showcases the appearance of Vranje city houses, their furnishing, layout, and organization of living spaces, featuring furniture items and craftsman-made objects.
Various types of urban and rural clothing and jewelry from the mid-19th century to the 1930s and 1940s are also on display, bearing witness to the spirit of the era in the region where they originated, with their beauty and undeniable artistic and aesthetic value.
The creation of the permanent exhibition was preceded by conservation and restoration work on the building itself.
The Museum was made accessible thanks to the funding from the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Serbia and the City of Vranje.
